why can i not see who kidnaps my girls?

As far as i remember you can see who kidnapped your girl. The player is shown when you pay the ransom at the weapon shop.

But your girl can be kidnapped randomly when you do some clients for Mdm Edna. The kidnapping is shown in a short message at the lower right (including link to weapon shop).
